so read this:

'CBS policy precludes accepting commercial advertising that takes and advocacy position on one side of a controversial issue(s) of public importance and urges the viewer to take action in this regard. This commercial asks the viewer not to make any purchases on November 28, 1997 as a demonstration in opposition to the current economic policy in the United States. In addidtion, The Media Foundation's website (i.e. www.adbusters.org) and magazine describe the foundation as an organisation devoted to advocacy on a number of controversial issues. Accordingly, this commercial is unnacceptable for broadcast on the CBS Television Network.'

Ok, so, if I understand correctly, the CBS television network's policy on advertising is to not expose people to opinions on controversial issues. Not to pose one-sided arguments/advocacy to any controversial issues. Explain this to me. Example: watch the new television commercials concerning pot (not necessarily airing on CBS, but still). They show absolute worst case scenarios, such as a bunch of guys running over a little girl on a tricycle outside a fast food drive through; two kids playing with their father's gun in his office and the one shoots his other friend, etc etc. I only see one side of that issue in those commercials. It's pure propaganda, and shock therapy. So basically we're not allowed to have opinions, and if we want opinions, the government will give them to us. Isn't every single commercial on television basically in violation of CBS's own rules? I never see a commercial saying "try our credit card company, on one side you'll have extra money in case of emergency, but on the other hand, we'll fuck you up the ass with interest payments that we charge directly to your credit card in order to produce a higher taxable balance carried forward, causing us to repeatedly charge interest on an ever increasing principle, creating a vicious cycle of a downward spiral which is immensly difficult to remove yourself from once it's started. "There's a little mcdonalds in everyone, as well as a little, I mean a LOT of artery-clogging fat and cholesterol". Did somebody say McQuadruple Bypass?

No. No they sure didn't. You never see both sides, in actuality, you ONLY see one side of every issue and the fact that these issues are not seen as controversial is completely mind boggling. Rampant consumerism is definitely a controversial issue. As well as global warming, the united states deficit, capitalism, etc. These commercials strongly support capitalism, encourage you to overspend while hiding the dire consequences from you on a regular basis. The sick thing is, is that if adbusters had enough cash, like the campaigners and their disgusting anti-marijuana propaganda, CBS would have aired the Buy Nothing Day commercial.

i guess you have to take the sour along with the sweet, although the sour can sometimes be quite the bitter pill to swallow...

Well, since I've made it onto Google, Google will make it onto my site (I know they're ecstatic), so there's a Google search button at the bottom of the page now, use it to search the ONLY search engine you should use on the web. Trust me, I'm not just plugging Google in the hopes that they'll send me a cheque, it's the best.

Also, for my top three, I find it hard to specify which movies and music are my absolute favourite, and I tend to stay away from making things my favourite, because I generally like different things for different reasons and equal amount. I love italian food. I'll give a short and by no means completed list of some of my favourite movies and bands, in absolutely no order other than the order I think of them:

Movies: Sexy Beast, Great Expectations, Gattaca, Donnie Darko, Memento, Suicide Kings, Storytelling - the one with Consuelo, Royal Tanenbaums, Se7en, Usual Suspects.....I am missing a ton of my most favourite movies, and I could make another list with completely different titles and they'd be up there with all of these....this is just a taste.

Music: Far too hard to define and categoriZe in a short little paragraph, I'm really not doing myself justice with these lists here at all.....Taking Back Sunday, Tool, Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Matthew Good, Massive Attack, Portishead, almost all live music, Foo Fighters (some), and obvious legends of bands that everyone should respect, if not love: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins etc, budding favourites: The Used, Finch, At the Drive in/Sparta, Dashboard, a lot of Punk stuff, but I will NOT claim to be "punk", and please don't ever say the word "emo" to me.......I will puke.

That's all for now

So here it is, my top three things I love most out of life (may be contested):

1. Movies
2. Music
3. Food.

I had a HARD time deciding which should go first, movies or music, it's such a tough call. I love music so much, but movies impact me and my life on so many different levels as well. I also love the music that appears IN movies too....so they are pretty much one and the same, almost tied for first position. I still can't decide though......very fickle indeed...

Yeah, so I need to write something, but I don't know what. Here goes nothing.

Like I said, I have to start every one off with a new paragraph, don't ask me why. I am, by far, not an HTML guru, thankfully. I just copy and edit someone else's work, following a few simple and mindless rules. But, that's all anyone really does anyway. I don't think there's anything original left anymore. I'll come back, I need to be influenced some more...

"you're such sucker.....for a sweet talker"

"this all was only wishful thinking, this all was only wishful thinking"

"hoping for the best just hoping nothing happens, a thousand clever lines unread on clever napkins.."

"I will never ask if you don't ever tell me"
"I know you well enough to know you never loved me"

"I stay wrecked and jealous for this"

"remind me not to ever think of you again"

"rest the weight you had you chance and folded, don't hold your breath because you only make things worse"

"hold your breath because you'll only make things worse"

"and all I....need to know,... is that I'm something you'll be missing"

"maybe I shoud hate you for this, never really did ever quite get that far"

"is this what you call tact?? I swear you're as subtle as brick in the small of my back"

"listen, chick, I've had all that I can handle"

"think of all the fun you had, the finest line divides a night well spent from a waste of time "

"...always comes close, but this never comes easy, I still know everything"

"I never said I'd take this lying down......but I've crawled home from worse than this"
